Sustainable Lanark Questionnaire Results are Available !
From September 1, 2011 until November 8, 2011 a questionnaire on sustainability was made available to residents of Lanark County and this is a summary of the results. Approximately 40% of responses were collected during intercept engagements (farmers markets, landfill sites/waste events, hockey arenas) and 60% were collected through the project web site.
Update on Sustainability Plan
Right now the County Steering Committee is working with the project team to review the proposed County Official Plan which will address many of the strategic objectives for sustainability. They met on November 2 and will meet again on November 9 and 16. Once the Official Plan component has been worked out the project team will then turn its attention to the work of the Task Forces.
Community consultation will follow and will be posted here – all Task Force participants will be notified by email.
Thank You Task Force Members
In the meantime the project team is working with a draft of the Official Plan component and will be discussing how this important document can help with the implementation of actions that will support the themes and goal statements. Busy times – stay tuned for updates.
Task Forces Are Making Progress
As we enter into another great fall weekend we do so with the knowledge that the task force process is going well. All four task forces met this week – economic, cultural, environmental and social – and we are moving towards the development of draft themes, goals and objectives. The Cultural Task Force has completed a draft after two meetings and the Economic Task Force has zeroed in on several key words and concepts. The final two task forces wrap up on Monday.
215 Questionnaires and Counting
Congratulations on getting over the 200 questionnaire mark. The feedback is great with lots of comments about what a more sustainable Lanark County would look like. If you know anyone who has not done the questionnaire encourage them to come to the site to provide their thoughts.
We will be using these responses to develop goals and objectives for the sustainability plan.
170 Conversations and Counting ….
We have been all over the County – from farmers markets to the Drummond North Elmsley landfill to the Beckwith Recreational Centre and we have spoken with about 170 people. We are getting great feedback on the four pillars of sustainability – economic, environmental, social and cultural – and we are starting to see a clear picture of where residents want to see Lanark go in the future. If you haven’t done the questionnaire please complete it now, and if you have think about sending it to a friend.
We Are Coming to Pakenham Arena
Tonight (Tuesday, October 4th) we will be at the Pakenham Arena from about 4:30 until 7:30 to find people who are interested in doing out questionnaire. Same rules apply – if you complete a questionnaire with us you will get a coupon for a cup of coffee.
Sign Up For a Task Force
Just announced – the Sustainability Task Forces will be forming and meeting in mid-October. The purpose of each task force – one each for cultural, social, economic and environmental pillars – is to take the input of local residents and use it to create a draft sustainability plan for Lanark County.
